
Teaching Artist Intern

The Arts Council of Oklahoma City, a private non-profit corporation, is currently recruiting for intern positions in the assistance and implementation the Arts After School Program 2008-2009. This is a non-paid program. Academic approval for course credit for internship is negotiable.
A student seeking a degree in art, education, or arts education would be ideal for the teaching artist internship. The intern will follow an Arts Council of Oklahoma City teaching artist for one semester, assisting in the planning and implementation of an Arts After School class. The intern is required 4 hours per week with the teaching artists. Duties may include but are not limited to: supply gathering, assisting with youth ages 4-12, assisting with set up and cleaning, assisting with instructing and possibly planning. Intern must be flexible, patient, organized, and have some experience working with children. The intern will learn developmentally suitable activities for different age groups as well as planning lessons and various methods of instructing classes. Since students will be working with youth, an OSBI background check is required.
