Position description:
Responsible for providing vision, leadership, and oversight to the Three Rivers Museum, which is overseen by the Museum Board of directors.  Must be able to successfully lead long-term planning, set annual museum goals, oversee staff, lead exhibit planning, conduct fundraising, assist with planning of public events and programs, and provide guidance on the collection.

Position qualifications:

  • Advanced study in the field of museum operation, art, art history, Oklahoma history or other related field of study.
  • Experience in museum services or education preferred
  • Experience working in non-profit preferred
  • Skilled in working collaboratively with a wide range of personalities.

Position Requirements:

  • In addition to the hours of operation Wednesday – Saturday, time necessary to facilitate the operation of the museum and its programs. This is a salaried position and should average approximately 40 hr. per week. Working evening hours to facilitate the programs provided by the Museum is a must.


  • Planning and management of the museum.
  • Manage and lead Museum staff and volunteers and create monthly schedule
  • Manages editorial and advertising content.
  • Ability to develop and present public programs
  • Ability to read, analyze, and manage departmental budgets.
  • Supervise building and grounds maintenance projects.
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs., stand for extended periods of time, and climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.


  • Create annual program calendar, create monthly reports, and draft budget for museum board of directors.
  • Coordinate and manage educational programs.
  • Maintain timely correspondence and communication.
  • Manage social media Museum web site, Facebook and other related activities.
  • Manage the volunteer program.
  • Responsible for development of program, and retention of participants. 
  • Serve as contact and schedule potential volunteers.
  • Attend local conferences to promote visitation and volunteers.
  • Duties otherwise assigned.
