Philbrook Museum of Art – Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

Set within a twenty-five acre site three miles from downtown Tulsa, Philbrook's main campus is a unique combination of historic house, modern museum complex, and beautifully gardened property. In 2013, the Museum expanded with the opening of Philbrook Downtown - a 30,000 sq. ft. satellite facility located in the heart of Tulsa's vibrant Brady Arts District.

Position Overview
Philbrook Museum of Art is seeking Occasional Event Support. This position is responsible for assisting in maintaining the museum in a neat, efficient and favorable image to staff, visitors and groups or organizations both public and private who hold special events, receptions, and meetings in the museum’s public venues.  This position is expected to work an on-call basis up to 20 hours per week.


  1. Perform event set-up activities seeing that the assigned materials (tables, chairs, equipment) arrive timely and are set according to event sheet instructions. Assist where needed in keeping event routine on schedule.
  2. Perform event associated and minor custodial duties as assigned before, during, and after any special events.
  3. Remove event inventory and other materials from area after event, restoring utilized area to its normal arrangement and condition.
  4. Clean and maintain public areas to include vacuum carpets, clean glass, empty trash, periodic spot-checks for cleanliness and maintenance of public restrooms.
  5. Clean up spills and breakage as needed, transport and stage equipment, chairs, tables and audio visual equipment.
  6. Collect, empty, and re-line trash cans in public areas as well as event trash.
  7. Stock all paper products, soap dispensers. Disinfect door push plates and handles, bathroom fixtures.
  8. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Work independently when given directions and ability to work within group setting
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-up on cleaning and maintaining favorable image of museum.
  • Ability to operate or use cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms.
  • Ability to read and understand instructional materials pertaining to Event functions.


  • High School diploma or equivalent
