Celebrate #MuseumWeek 2017!
First worldwide cultural event on social networks!

We want everyone to know what a great museum you have!  #MuseumWeek helps you get the word out!

Monday 19 #foodMW
Tuesday 20 #sportsMW
Wednesday 21 #musicMW
Thursday 22 #storiesMW
Friday 23 #booksMW
Sunday 25 #heritageMW
Saturday 24 #travelsMW

And all week long with #WomenMW

During the week of June 19-25, 2017, post on social media using the daily hashtags.
Monday, June 19, is #FoodMW.  Share some food related facts about your collection or even promote your café.
Tuesday, June 20, is #SportsMW.  Share something sports related about your museum.  Do you have something owned by Jim Thorpe, or do you have a pair of stickball sticks on display?
Wednesday, June 21, is #MusicMW. Do you have musical instruments in your collection?  Or will a local musician be playing at your museum sometime soon?
Thursday, June 22, is #StoriesMW.  Share a story about your founder or encourage your followers to share their stories about your museum.
Friday, June 23, is #BooksMW.  Do you have books in your collection or gift shop?  Tell people about them.
Saturday, June 24, is #TravelsMW.  Does your museum feature modes of travel like trains or cars?  Maybe your collection is based on someone’s travels.
Sunday, June 25, is #HeritageMW.  Preserving heritage is part of our job.  Tell everyone how you do this.  These are just some suggestions, feel free to get creative.
In addition to the daily hastags, also use #WomenMW to focus on women and culture.

In 2016, there were over 664,000 tweets using #museumweek, seen more than 294 million times.  Share with everyone how great your museum is!  So, get ready to post, tweet, and share! Be a part of this global movement!  For more information about #MuseumWeek, go to http://museum-week.org/en

#MuseumWeek started as a movement in France on Twitter, and spread throughout the world and onto other social media platforms.  UNESCO supports this global initiative.

But, you say, our museum is not on social media.  Well, it’s easy.
Step 1: Open a Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram account.
Step 2: Spread the word that your museum is now on social media.
Step 3: Get friends and followers for your social media accounts.
Step 4: During the week of June 19-25, post images from your museum using the daily hashtag to get people interested in museums and specifically your museum.  Show them the cool stuff you have!  Show them how much fun it is at your museum!
