AASLH/OMA Tribal Track Information

This information is to alert you to six important training opportunities/events that are taking place in August and September, as well as the American Association for State and Local History/Oklahoma Museums Association 2010 Annual Meeting.

September 21 event at the Oklahoma Heritage Museum.  Museum tour, talk, book signing with noted Pawnee arttorney and activist Walter Echo-Hawk.  His new book is In the Courts of the Conqueror:  The Ten Worst Indian Law Cases Ever Decided.  The event is free.  For more information or to register visit http://echo-hawk-ehome.eventbrite.com

On September 22, three events will take place. These events are a part of the American Association of State and Local History/Oklahoma Museums Association 2010 Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Department of Libraries helped plan the pre-conference events that include:
-“The Care of Folded and Rolled Documents” at the Oklahoma History Center.  Cost is $50.  Instructor is Sherelyn Ogden, Head of Conservation, Minnesota Historical Society. - SOLD OUT
-“Common Ground:  Best NAGPRA Practices for Museums and Tribes.”  Cost is $20.  More information or to register at http://nagpra.eventbrite.com
- “Heartbeat of a Nation:  Chickasaw Cultural Center” tour.  Cost is $55 - SOLD OUT
