Museum Accession and Registration of Collections Course Offered March 4-5
The Oklahoma Museums Association developed MARC Course will help museum staff and volunteers properly manage their collections, by teaching a solid foundation of basic museum collections knowledge.
Workshop participants will receive a variety of supplies including an artifact numbering kit and a notebook of useful information. Using the kit and handout materials, participants will learn how to process an artifact donation including completion of legal forms, documentation of the artifacts provenance and description, physical application of a number to the artifact and cataloging to enter information about the artifact in the museums record system.
The two-day regional MARC course registration fee is $150 for the first registrant from an institution and $75 for each additional registrant from that same institution. Institutions sending multiple registrants should note the fee structure provides one artifact numbering kit for the registration fee of $150 while the $75 fee covers training only. Space is limited. For more information call 405.424.7757.
The two-day MARC Course will be offered at the Tulsa Historical Society. The course will be from 9:00am-4:00pm each day. Scholarships available for OMA members. Lunch is on your own.
