Museums utilize a variety of funding sources for their operations and care.  Having a well crafted, thought-out fundraising plan and calendar will help your organization strategically obtain much needed support.

The workshop will focus on important components of how to develop an overall fundraising plan for your museum including the steps involved; case statement; funding types and partners; prospective funders; tactics and methods; best strategies; budgeting; timeline and calendars; and delegation of staff and board.  Participants will have time to begin drafting their own fundraising plan with guidance from the presenter, John Martin.

This workshop will benefit all museums, both small and large, which currently do not have a balanced fundraising plan.

The workshop will be presented by John Martin.  He is the Executive Director of Development for Southern Nazarene University and was named 2007 Fundraiser of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Oklahoma Chapter.

John Martin received his Bachelors of Arts in Business from SNU as well as his Master of Arts in Christian Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary in California.  John is currently pursuing a professional designation for Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy through The American College in Pennsylvania.

John has 18 years of planned giving and development experience including a $16 million dollar campaign at LeTourneau University and a $32.6 million campaign at Southern Nazarene University.  John has been privileged to assist and build relationships with donors who have established planned gifts totaling more than $13 million, including a complex and ongoing charitable remainder trust funded with more than 100 separate properties.

Partners and sponsors of the OMA regional workshop series include Oklahoma Arts Council, Kirkpatrick Family Fund, Creek Council House Museum, Charles and Lynne Schusterman Family Foundation, ConocoPhillips and Science Museum Oklahoma.

This is an Oklahoma Membership and Development Association (OKMADA) sponsored workshop.  OKMADA is a standing professional committee of the Oklahoma Museums Association.
