As proclaimed by the Governor of the State of Oklahoma, we will once again celebrate all Oklahoma museums and cultural organizations during Oklahoma Museums Week March 12-18, 2023! Join our community to raise awareness on the cultural, economic and educational value that art museums, historical societies, historic sites, zoos, aquariums, science centers, botanical gardens, historic houses, natural history museums, children’s museums, heritage centers, living history museums, tribal cultural centers and museums have on our state and our world.
The Oklahoma Museums Association will lead an online conversation by featuring a hashtag and theme for each day of the week, which can be found below. All museums and cultural institutions are encouraged to use the daily hashtag to post content surrounding their institution’s mission, programming, collection and exhibitions. We hope to educate connected audiences, stakeholders and policymakers and encourage visitors to get out and explore Oklahoma during spring break and beyond.
OMA also will be reaching out to all Oklahoma legislators to let them know what museums and cultural institutions are in their district. We encourage all of our members to invite their legislators and elected officials for a visit during Oklahoma Museums Week.
