Gilcrease Museum/JustWorks – Application Deadline: Open until filled

POSITION SUMMARY:
In April 2016, Tulsa voters approved the Vision Tulsa package that included a transformational $65 million capital project for Gilcrease Museum. Since then, an additional $10 million gift was made by the A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Foundation elevating the total investment to $75 million. This historic project will result in a major reconstruction project for the museum. 

In preparation for the capital project, the museum’s collections will be relocated to a temporary storage facility. JustWorks, a Professional Employer Organization which has an agreement with Gallagher Properties LLC (an affiliated company of Gallagher & Associates LLC who is the Exhibit Designer for the Museum), has been engaged to seek an Assistant Preparator to assist in preparing Gilcrease Museum’s collection material for relocation. This is a full-time, 40-hour per-week appointment at $17.00 per hour until December 17, 2021. 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Gilcrease Chief Preparator, the Assistant Preparator will:

  • Wrap and crate works of fine art according to museum standards and best practices
  • Wrap and pack non-collection items to be moved out of the building
  • Load and unload boxes and crates to/from shipping vehicles
  • Performs other duties as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience using power tools; ability to use and accurately read a tape measure is essential; Museum object handling experience; knowledge of AAM’s museum best practices and standards of collection material. Must be detail oriented, highly organized, dependable, have solid time management, and teamwork skills.   

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification to operate a forklift.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical dexterity sufficient to use a keyboard and telephone; carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds; may be subject to extended periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, balancing, bending, kneeling, handling, climbing, and twisting; must have visual acuity to closely examine small objects, speech and hearing sufficient to perform interact with co-workers.

WORKING HOURS
Monday through Friday, during normal daytime working hours. (Specific start/end time to be determined.)
