Supervisor: Curator
FLSA: Hourly
Pay Range: $16.00-$20.00/hour

Job Summary:  
The Collections Manager will be responsible for the regular implementation of the position’s essential functions (see below)

Essential Functions:

  • Development, management, intellectual integrity, standardized care and documentation [physical/digital] of collections within the Cultural Heritage Center’s permanent collection
  • Implementation of standardized institutional protocols regarding environmental control and monitoring, pest management, security and risk management
  • Utilization of appropriate content management systems and applications established for the Cultural Heritage Center’s permanent collection
  • Provide research assistance and accessibility to collections
  • Assist curator in training and exercising direction over full-time, part-time, intern and volunteer personnel

Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties and as required by management

Minimum Qualifications For Consideration:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Museology, Native American Studies, Anthropology, History or related fields; two or more years of experience in a museum, preferably a tribal and/or history museum, including work with collections; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of general philosophy, principles and practices of tribal and/or history museums
  • Advanced knowledge of collections management, care, documentation and classifications
  • Working knowledge of institutional content management and database systems
  • Advanced technical writing and research skills
  • Excellent verbal and technical communication skills
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of office management

Working Conditions:

  • 8 hours, Monday – Friday; Occasional Saturdays
  • Location – Cultural Heritage Center
  • Work space temperature cooler than average office environments
