General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum – Application Deadline: Open until filled

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Collections Manager is responsible for development, management, intellectual integrity, and care of the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum’s collections including the mobile museum and classroom. The Collections Manager will be responsible for the collecting, documentation and cataloging of collections, digitizing, tracking and storage of archival collections and the transportation of archival collections when necessary. Collections Manager will provide research information and recommendations for exhibits as well as prepping and support with exhibit displays. Responsible for museum environmental control and monitoring, pest management. Manages and assures accuracy, security, retrievability, and intellectual integrity of collection records. Oversees development, maintenance, security and upgrades of collections database.

Evaluates current practices and ensures that we stay current with professional standards. Manages adequate insurance recommendations for, and updates storage, maintenance, care, and conservation of collections. Coordinates museum and institutes security, risk management and emergency preparedness programs.

Travel may be necessary to attend related conferences, workshops or courier collections.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years in Collections, museum studies, art history, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Considerate knowledge of Collections Management and policies.
  • Working knowledge of computer database systems, particularly Past Perfect.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with museum staff, supervisors, volunteers, and diverse public constituencies.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task especially during the planning phases of new exhibits and special events.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment.
  • The employee will routinely work in a professional, fast-paced office environment.
  • Working knowledge in digital and film camera equipment.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance.

Must be able to sit for long periods of time, type, bend and stoop and there may be a need for lifting up to 50 pounds.
