Position Overview
hilbrook Museum of Art is seeking a Development Officer, Donor Circle and Event Sales. This position is responsible for overseeing the Ambassador Circle membership program, the Museum’s annual fund, and increasing event sales. In collaboration with the Director of Revenue, develop strategies to secure new Ambassador Circle gifts, retain and upgrade current Ambassador Circle members, and assist with building the major gifts pipeline. The Development Officer is a full-time position at 35 hours a week. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability, 403(b), PTO, 11 paid holidays, and a museum membership.


  • Relationship Management, Stewardship, and Communications:  Ensure the highest quality donor stewardship for Ambassador Circle members; create and implement stewardship strategies; create, implement, and manage Ambassador Circle cultivation and stewardship events throughout the year, including annual Director’s barbecue and annual Ambassador Circle dinner; coordinate and manage ongoing communications to all levels of membership; determine message content and segmenting; assist gift officers in identifying and stewarding Ambassador Circle members who are also major gift prospects; represent the Museum at event sales opportunities.
  • Strategy and Management:  In coordination with Director of Revenue, manage the Ambassador Circle membership program (members contributing $1,000+ annually), with a focus on engaging new and lapsed members; create both comprehensive and customized solicitation and cultivation strategies to generate new Ambassador Circle gifts and upgrade current Ambassador Circle members; work closely with Membership Specialist to design and manage a program to upgrade donor level members to Ambassador Circle; design and implement the Annual Fund, including setting and meeting annual dollar and retention goals; work with Events team to design and implement an event sales strategy with particular focus on growing corporate rentals.
  • Research and Project Management: Work closely with Development Assistant, Records and Gift Processing to ensure gift acknowledgement letters, prospecting, and communications are timely and accurate; track and prepare regular reports on revenue; manage Ambassador Circle budget.
  • Maintain prompt and reliable attendance in order to successfully perform the duties of the job.

  • Bachelor’s degree, with at least three years of development/fundraising experience.
  • Knowledge of Tessitura or other fundraising databases preferred
  • Proven experience in grant writing, including a track record of successful funded proposals strongly preferred; writing samples a plus.
