Position Overview
As the Development Officer, you are primarily responsible for the design, coordination, and execution of successful development and donor events as assigned. In this role, you will also manage a portfolio of donors related to events.  The successful candidate will build strong relationships with colleagues, vendors, donors, and volunteers by communicating proactively and maintaining a professional demeanor and positive attitude. 

What You Will Be Doing
Project Management: 

  • In collaboration with team members, you will manage development events including, but not limited to, member openings, and donor engagement events. 
  • Manages collection and fulfillment of live auction packages for assigned events.
  • In coordination with the Business Office, track expenses and maintain documentation for quotes and invoices. 

Relationship Management: 

  • You will identify and develop relationships with prospective funders, vendors, community, and corporate partners related to development events. 
  • Maintains a portfolio of 25-30 donors related to fundraising events. 
  • Assists in raising money for fundraising events and other special projects.
  • Coordinates with local businesses to offer small revenue generating partnerships.

Event Implementation: 

  • Ensures deliveries and setup are on schedule for assigned events.
  • You will conduct pre-event walk through with staff leads.
  • Attends events and ensure museum policies are enforced and event plans are implemented.

What You Will Bring

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, and experience in relationship building with donors, members, clients, or volunteers. 
  • Excellent skills using Microsoft Excel. 


  • Articulation and comfort picking up the phone and calling people; 
  • Strong communication - both verbal and written 
  • Creative thinking skills, initiative, and desire to work collaboratively
  • Goal-driven and able to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel; 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Tessitura or other fundraising databases

Monday - Friday, with the ability to work evening and weekend events, as needed.
