Gilcrease Museum – Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Development for Gilcrease will report to the Senior Director of Development for Gilcrease and is responsible for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors and prospects for the Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art with an emphasis on expanding the geographical reach of the museum through identifying, cultivating and soliciting new prospects throughout the region and nation.

 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • In conjunction with the Senior Director of Development, develops an annual solicitation strategy for a defined portfolio of donors and prospects
  • Actively manages a local, regional and national portfolio of around 100 individual, corporate and foundation prospects
  • Designs, implements, and manages a comprehensive, proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing individual, corporate and foundation relationships by directing and coordinating activities related to obtaining broader levels of support
  • Maintains a minimum of five visits per week with portfolio prospects
  • Supports and assists the Senior Director of Development in the execution of the museum’s $50 million comprehensive fundraising campaign
  • Manages expanding corporate fundraising program, identifying and soliciting new prospects; manages staff in related cultivation and stewardship activities
  • As directed by supervisor, performs significant grant writing and proposal development (including budget development), follows up with museum departments on how grant funds were utilized, and manages stewardship reports
  • Researches new funding possibilities from corporations, foundations, government and other grant making entities with emphasis on regional and national funding entities
  • Assists with preparation and follow up for Gilcrease National Board meetings
  • Liaisons with other museum departments as needed and collaborates with University Relations and special event professionals regarding publications, materials and web needs for prospects, stewardship and special projects
  • In consultation with the Senior Director of Development and the Executive Director, formulates and implements annual and long-range strategies associated with the museum’s strategic plan
  • Provides staffing and assistance to members of the Gilcrease National Board involved in fundraising activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned/needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree; four to six years of experience in fundraising; proven managerial and leadership skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and within a team environment; ability to handle multiple tasks and swiftly identify and solve problems; must have outgoing and energetic personality with strong interpersonal skills; ability to work nights and weekends as required; and an enthusiasm for the arts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Master’s Degree; proven experience with planned giving vehicles, familiarity with higher education operations and specifically fundraising practices
