The Education Partnership and Research Coordinator provides coordination of Discovery Lab’s Accessible Discovery program through building relationships and connecting community partners with Accessible Discovery opportunities. In addition, this position is responsible for evaluating the program by collecting data and communicating impact, including developing ways to assess program impact, providing assistance on research and evaluation questions, and interpretation and reporting data.

Duties and responsibilities
Primary functions:

  • Provide services that mutually advance the mission of Discovery Lab as well as the mission of the partner organizations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community research partners.
  • Assist in developing impact assessment instruments.
  • Identify and cultivate new partnerships for the Accessible Discovery program.
  • Participate in the preparation and execution of data collection and analysis activities including literature reviews, data collection, and data analysis as assigned.
  • Compile preliminary research and evaluation findings.
  • Work with a cross-functional team of stakeholders to grow the reach and impact of the Accessible Discovery Program.
  • Support reporting and dissemination processes.
  • Support the development of project proposals.
  • Support ethical treatment of human evaluation and research subjects. Complete related training as required.

Secondary functions:

  • Work collegially with the Director of Exhibits and Visitor Engagement to create high-value evaluation and data collection strategies.
  • Serve as a team member on Discovery Lab projects and committees as assigned.
  • Position may require regional travel and present outcomes to stakeholders
  • Present professional development to museum staff related to evaluation and data collection.

Qualification requirements Knowledge and skills:

  • Basic knowledge of experimental design and data collection methods
  • Basic knowledge of qualitative data collection methods and analysis.
  • Basic understanding statistics.
  • Basic understanding of graphically communicating statistics and data.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interface well with fellow staff, participants, and partners in professional, education, research, and evaluation settings.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain focus in an active work environment.
  • Ability to effectively work independently in completing assigned project tasks and to collaborate with teams on multiple, simultaneous, diverse tasks. Includes ability to learn quickly and meet deadlines.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent task coordination skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail with high degree of accuracy.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and protocol.

Education and work experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience informal education
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with evaluation implementation
  • Minimum of 1 year of facilitating organizational relationships


  • Proficiency with database management, statistics software, graphics software, and/or data collection tools.
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English
  • Experience working with volunteers

This job is a regular, full-time, non-exempt, hourly position. The typical work schedule for this job is Monday- Friday between 9 am – 5:30 pm. Some after hours and weekends may be required to work events. General office environment.

60% Sitting, 30% Standing, 10% Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling no more than 10-30 lbs.

The salary range for this position is $17.97 - $24.26.
