FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Manager of Museum Education and Outreach

WORK SCHEDULE: Part-Time 15-20 hours per week; 8-10 weeks; Tuesday through Friday

COMPENSATION: $3,500

JOB SUMMARY
The Oklahoma Hall of Fame and Gaylord-Pickens Museum seek a seasoned educator for the position of educator in residence for summer 2019. This eight- to ten-week position works directly with the Museum Experience team to evaluate Free Family Programs and, specifically, the Free Field Trip program for its correlation to and support of current classroom curriculum. The educator in residence will shadow tours, review and revise pre-arrival material and tour guide script, and create a post-tour evaluation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and revise current pre-arrival materials and online resources found on our Museum’s website.
  • Under the general direction of the manager of museum education and outreach, create an online tour evaluation for educators to complete following their Free Field Trip.
  • Field Trip Review
    • Review existing scripts and specialized tours to determine ways in which script can be improved to meet Oklahoma Academic Standards.
    • Create two blog posts.
  • Free Family Programming Review
    • Help to develop practices throughout programming that encourage engagement and interaction.

APPLICANTS MUST

  • Hold an active teaching certificate in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Be in good standing with an Oklahoma school district (public or private).
  • Possess strong communication, presentation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Be familiar with Oklahoma’s PASS Objectives and Oklahoma City Public Schools’ standards.
  • Possess experience in curriculum development.

SKILLS

  • Must be task oriented and work well on teams.
  • Maintain deadlines and project check points.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; must have visual acuity to read and draft reports, memorandums, and other printed matter; and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee will work in both an office environment and outdoors.  The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud; situations characteristic to working with school-age children are common.
