Salary $48,718 -$68,205

What we want
The Grants Manager is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Development.  This key development team member engages in fund development functions within the department with emphasis on providing research, writing, and leadership for all programs and projects supported by grant funding. In addition, this position supports the museum’s Accessible Discovery (AD) Program in concert with the Education Manager, ensuring all grant deliverables are met, and tracking performance for reporting. 

What you’ll do
Primary functions:

  • Identify, research and vet new funding opportunities in light of organization mission and goals.
  • Communicate with Discovery Lab leadership and departmental management to identify and prioritize projects that need funding support.
  • Maintain accurate grant calendars, database records, and organizational files for all grant funders and potential funders.
  • Develop and manage relationships with current funders including reporting and ongoing stewardship.
  • Write and edit content for grant proposals working with the Director of Development and other team members and oversee submission of all proposal requirements and materials.
  • Follow proposal guidelines to ensure that materials are accurate, properly formatted, and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Work with Discovery Lab staff and leadership to develop budgets, reports and ancillary materials needed to support grant proposals or grant reports.
  • Support in the creation of contributed revenue and expense budgets and monitor grant-driven income and expenses.
  • Support the development of project proposals in accordance with grant requirements and the funding priorities of the museum.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with staff at community agencies and schools participating in the AD program.
  • Track AD grant deliverables to ensure all programming is scheduled and delivered.
  • Regular punctual attendance

Secondary functions:
Serve as a team member representing the Development Department on Discovery Lab projects and committees as assigned.

What you’ll need
Knowledge and skills:
Research and Evaluation Methods and Analysis

  • Solid writing ability
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising models and strategies, as well as an understanding of budgeting practices and financial documents
  • Strong, positive communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize projects to meet deadlines and produce quality results within set timeframes
  • Excellent computer skills with all Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel

Education and work experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years’ experience in grant-writing and grant management with a track record of successful proposals
  • Experience in nonprofit development setting strongly preferred

How you’ll work
This job is a regular, full-time, exempt, hourly position. The typical work schedule for this job is Monday-Friday between 9 am – 5:30 pm. Occasional after hours and weekends may be required. Shared office environment. 

Physical requirements
60% Sitting, 30% Standing, 10% Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling no more than 10-30 lbs.
