General Summary: Curator of Education serves as an essential member of the museum creative team through the development of adult classes and programming, web content for teachers and students, and education exhibit interactives.  The position is responsible for the organization, coordination, and evaluation of these programs in addition to serving as Assistant Oklahoma National History Day Coordinator and primary volunteer liaison for education programs.  
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
In communication with all necessary museum staff members and under the supervision of the Education Director, the Curator of Education will:

  • Plan and manage logistical requirements of educational programs and events, including:
    • Adult educational classes and programs
    • Exhibit interactives
    • Volunteer training for Education programs
    • Oklahoma National History Day teacher workshops and outreach events
    • Serve as the coordinator for adult educational programs and events.  Coordinator will handle all organization and implementation of adult educational programs and events including marketing, registration, staffing needs, set-up, and evaluation.
    • Develop and maintain education gallery interactives, in consultation with Director of Education and the Director of Exhibits.
    • Co-manage social media strategy and posting with Assistant Curator of Education and Director of Education. Create web content in compliance with Oklahoma Curriculum Standards to be utilized as a resource for teachers and students across the state.  
    • Serve as volunteer liaison for the Education Department.  Develop and implement volunteer training for tour guides, hands-on cart facilitators, and living history interpreters.  
    • Perform necessary duties as Assistant Oklahoma National History Day Coordinator, assisting the State Coordinator and Oklahoma National History Day Assistant with teacher and student workshops, the development of student and teacher resource sheets, implementation of expansion efforts as approved by the State Coordinator, and judge/student registration for the state contest.
    • Actively develop and participate in living history interpretation for outreach and in-house events.  
    • Assist with education programs and other duties as assigned.
