Individual Sales & Membership Coordinator

Position Description:
Discovery Lab seeks an energetic and organized professional to serve as Individual Sales and Membership Associate. This full-time position reports to the Director of Organizational Development and is an integral member of Discovery Lab’s organizational development. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a pleasant, positive rapport are necessary for this position.

This position will have the following primary functions:
Individual Program Sales:

  • Communicate with customers providing information and registration assistance in regards to birthday parties, facility rentals, and camps.
  • Maintain customer relationships with a high degree of professionalism and appearance and maintain accurate records, reports, and tracking systems for all participants.
  • Promote and cross-sell Discovery Lab’s programs to callers and clients as appropriate.
  • Maintain close contact with marketing and education staff as well as other divisions within the museum to ensure effective communication, accurate program expectations for all participants, and to meet sales goals for incremental increases in program revenue.
  • Maintain and report sales trends and advocate for customer needs, problems, interests, and suggest potential for programming and services.


  • Oversee the day-to-day administration and implementation of the museum’s membership program, including: maintenance of member records in Altru, acknowledgements, renewals, fulfillment of membership materials, and respond to membership inquiries by phone and email.
  • Plans and implements the transition plan for the membership program as the museum moves to the new site.
  • Serve as part of the Accessibility team managing and reporting on memberships administered through that program.
  • Work to reach membership revenue and renewal goals and track membership expenses.
  • Evaluate program with visitor studies to increase renewal and new member sales.
  • Plans and supervises Members-Only events with marketing team and Events and Marketing Associate.

Event Planning:

  • Participate with the develop/marketing team with the planning and execution of marketing events to increase member loyalty, attract new members to the museum, and drive individual admissions to the museum.  Some events include Noon Year’s Eve, Members Only events, Introduce a Girl to Engineering, Parents night out, family engagement nights, etc.

Position Qualifications/Requirements:
Knowledge and skills:

  • Highly motivated with the ability to exercise initiative and good judgment, ability to deal with rapidly changing priorities, possess excellent problem-solving, organization, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and track multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy, and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Computer literacy with demonstrated competence in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of business English and math, office/accounting/budgeting principles, procedures and standards.

Education and work experience:

  • Minimum 2 years administrative or development experience or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
