Job Location: Oklahoma-Norman-Norman Campus
Schedule: Full-time
Work Schedule: M-F, 8-5 (hours may vary, flexible work schedule with some work occurring in the evenings and on weekends)
Salary Range: Up to $50,000 based on experience

Job Description
Responsible for effectively promoting and marketing the museum and its mission. Responsible for identifying audiences, locally, regionally and nationally, and developing, implementing, and managing a strategic integrated communication plant to reach those audiences. Will represent the museum in a professional manner

  1. Manages writing and communication support for museum operations, including public relations, media relations, publications, marketing, advertising and event promotion
  2. Oversees content production such as newsletters, brochures, press releases, articles, catalogs, website text and other publications.
  3. Develops and oversees social media to engage audiences across traditional and new media.
  4. Builds, maintains, and coordinates relationships with the media.
  5. Responds to all media inquiries; may require serving in a spokesperson capacity, as directed
  6. Plans advertising and advertising schedules.
  7. Evaluates and coordinates publications and projects.
  8. Monitors progress of projects.
  9. Administers budgets for promotional and public relations programs.
  10. Develops research strategies to determine needs of targeted and potential markets.
  11. Performs research, analyzes data and develops public relations and marketing plans.
  12. Prepares and maintains related reports and records.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Required Education:
 Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, or related field

Equivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree.

Skills:

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with digital resources, including website content management social media
  • Experience in SEO, GoogleAds, etc.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator)
  • Basic computer skills such as word processing, email and spreadsheet data entry
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with customers/clients, students, faculty and staff
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience in preparation and management of operational budgets
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Able to work independently as well as with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
  • Able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing situations; must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Basic experience with AV and photography equipment
  • Basic with video, including shooting, editing, and motion graphics
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies, including  non-university and university visitors, clients, contractors, and vendors

  • The job may include frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods
  • May be required to travel

Departmental Preferences:

  • 18 - 36 months of writing and editing
  • Experience with museums, cultural organizations, or other non-profits
  • Provide writing samples of PR campaigns
