REPORTS TO: Manager of Museum Education and Outreach
LOCATION(S):         Main Facility and Satellite Locations
SALARY RANGE: $17-$20 hourly, based on experience, employee-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, and matching retirement

As a member of the Museum Experience team and under the direction of the Manager of Museum Education and Outreach, the Outreach Program Coordinator actively supports the mission of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and Gaylord-Pickens Museum to tell Oklahoma’s story through its people. This role has responsibilities in all Museum and outreach educational programs and exhibit and program development.



  • Coordinate with the Manager of Museum Education for the management and training of Museum Associates for virtual and outreach program development and execution.
  • Oversee the development and facilitation of offsite and virtual programming.
  • Liaise with contract labor, such as teaching artists or performers, for offsite and virtual programming.
  • Coordinate with Manager of Museum Education and Outreach to ensure goals and scheduling of programs matches Museum mission and schedule.


  • Create, coordinate, and execute virtual and offsite programs and outreach activities that forward the Oklahoma Hall of Fame’s mission, while meeting goals to engage and educate primary audiences, and reach new audiences statewide.
  • Coordinate with Manager of Museum Education and Outreach and Development Coordinator to acquire and maintain outreach program funding.
  • Collaborate with Manager of Museum Education and Outreach to develop resources and programs for Oklahoma schools and students, including in-school outreach programs, in-classroom resources, and virtual classes and field trips.  School resources and programs should forward the mission of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, engage and educate Oklahoma students, assist Oklahoma teachers, and meet state education standards.
  • Stay current with education and museum programming trends and methods, state education standards, and educator professional development requirements.
  • Serve on the exhibitions committee, assisting in the development and execution of Museum permanent, special exhibitions, and virtual exhibits, representing the voice of the outreach/virtual audiences in planning for all Museum exhibits and programs.
  • Participate in evaluation of Museum exhibits and programs, including [email protected], virtual programs, Pioneer Spirit Pop Up exhibit, and Oklahoma Originals outreach.
  • Assist in the development and execution of in-person programs, including Free Family Programs, Homeschool Day, and Free Field Trips, at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame | Gaylord-Pickens Museum when needed.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a Community Advisory Network, and work with that network to ensure that outreach programming is relevant and accessible to as many communities and individuals as possible.
  • Maintain timely correspondence and communication.
  • Represent the Museum at schools, community events, in education/museum committees and at conferences.
  • Duties otherwise assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree in related field, one to three years’ experience of museum, program planning, or related field.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; must have visual acuity to read and draft reports, memorandums, and other printed matter; and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

The employee will work year-round in both an office environment and outdoors.  The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud; situations characteristic to working with school-age children are common; and travel to other sites within the metropolitan area and to rural communities statewide are possible.
