Job Summary
The Program Manager is under the direction of the Executive Director in providing leadership planning organization and operations in the development and operation of all GTFLIM Programs and Special Events. The Program Manager will assist the Executive Director in the development of and accomplishment of the Strategic Plan. 

The Program Manager is expected to serve as ambassador for the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum and must demonstrate professional excellence, high ethical values, and perform to the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum’s standard of quality at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out duties under the direction and knowledge of the Executive Director for business development, education programs, donor management and partnership activities.
  • Responsible for all program activities including outreach, volunteer coordination, and partnership development.
  • Responsible for media relations and public relations for programs of special events.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and chief advocate for the Institute and Museum’s Programs. Establish strong partnerships in the community. Enhance the museum’s public image to expand interest and support locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Plan and oversee all events and programs under the direction of the Executive Director, including but not limited to Four Star Leadership, Celebration of Freedom, Museum Roadshow and Inspired Leadership.
  • Assist the Executive Director in developing relationships; plans and advancement of the organization.
  • Accomplish all tasks as appropriately assigned and requested by the Executive Director.

Requirements

  • Ability to provide strong leadership, vision, and direction. Experience implementing strategic plans developed by the Board of Directors and National Advisors with the Executive Director.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standards and best practices for a business, museums, non-profit, or similar organizations, as well as a history of involvement in relevant professional organizations.
  • Strong record of community involvement.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing and public speaking.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively, diplomatically, and effectively with Executive Director, staff, BOD, volunteers, and in community relations and outreach capacities.
  • Evidence of success in developing, managing, and working within the annual programs operating budget. Strong business management skills.
  • Willingness to work a variable schedule, including weekends, and evenings as needed.

Education and Work Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree and/or the combination below.
  • Five years of experience in a leadership position in business, museum, or a non-profit organization.
  • Minimum Three years’ experience at a managerial level preferred.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector preferred.

Computer and Software Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and Publisher
  • Working knowledge in QuickBooks or similar accounting software
  • Working knowledge in web-sites
  • Little Green Light or donor based software a plus

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and have reliable Transportation.
  • Proof of auto insurance

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel, such as keyboarding and writing. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Must have visual acuity to read and draft reports, memos, letters, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. Must be able to speak and communicate clearly.

During events the duties of this job will increase and you may be standing and walking. There may even be a need for lifting up to 50 pounds.

The employee will routinely work in a professional, fast-paced office environment.
