Job Description
Responsible for the development, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of Sam Noble Museum's public programs to enhance and broaden engagement with the Museum for the general public, the university community, and diverse, multi-generational audiences. Primary facilitator capable of conceptualizing wide-ranging, exciting, and informative public programs that consider the Sam Noble Museum’s collections and exhibitions.

Duties:

  • Plan, coordinate, supervise and present public programs
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise and present public museum events such as Spooktacular, Super Saturdays
  • Coordinate logistics for public programs and public event 
  • Assist with PR/marketing and social media promotion for public programs and museum events
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Job Requirements
Required Education: 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/job-related experience, AND:

  • 0-24 months experience in public programming or public engagement

Skills:

  • Experience in development and implementation of a diverse range of public programs, with an emphasis in museum and/or community program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Basic social media skills 
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Attention to detail and exceptional time management skills; able to work independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction, and completing workloads with established time frames 
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise part-time personnel, volunteers, and interns 
  • Computer skills such as word processing, simple graphic design, email, and spreadsheet data entry 
  • Basic experience with AV equipment

Department Preferences:

  • Museum education, science education, museum studies, communications, and/or art education experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Natural or Social Science area (e.g. biology, zoology, anthropology, geology, etc.) education (especially science education), museum studies or other related field 
  • 12 months experience in project management for informal, museum, and/or community programs
  • Experience in preparation and management of operational budgets 
  • Experience in monitoring effectiveness by gathering and analyzing qualitative and quantitative statistics, including attendance and other engagement metrics
  • Energetic and engaging presentation style 
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing situations
  • Able to negotiate, exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to develop programs and/or arrive at decisions, conclusions, or solutions
  • Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff members, students, and volunteers 
  • Able to interact positively and professionally with individuals of all ages and backgrounds
