Position Overview
Philbrook Museum of Art is seeking art program-based Program Assistants. This position is responsible for assisting the Education Staff and Teaching Artists in the facilitation of art education classes and programs. The program assistant works to ensure a positive and safe environment for all participants. This position is expected to work when major art programs are scheduled to occur at the museum. Program Assistant availability includes Friday and Saturday, day and evening, availability throughout November and December to accommodate museum holiday programming efforts.

 Responsibilities

  • Engage program participants (children, adults, and/or family groups) in creative activities while maintaining a successful creative thinking environment. 
  • Assist Education Staff and Teaching Artists by greeting and registering program participants and informing participants of program prompts.
  • Assist with the preparation and cleanup of art supplies, and other materials for platforms and programs, while maintaining an organized supply area.
  • Proactively interact with program participants and visitors while modeling the organization’s mission and vision, in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner that contributes to a positive experience at Philbrook.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the Education department as needed.
  • Maintain prompt and reliable attendance in order to successfully perform the duties of the job. Find substitute from designated assistant contact list when necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to interact with a diverse population in a helpful, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of art and art making
  • Ability to safely operate studio equipment as related to assigned classes or programs.
  • Require availability on Fridays and Saturdays during November and December.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer post high school studies in art or education related field of study or experience working in the field of art or education for at least one year.
  • Prefer one year of related experience working with children and/or adults.
