Museum Accessioning and Registration of Collections Online Course

The Museum Accessioning and Registration of Collections Online Course, developed by the Oklahoma Museums Association and made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, is an on-demand course that can be completed at your own pace. This course teaches a solid foundation of basic museum collections knowledge and is great for staff, board members, or volunteers working with museum collections, artifact donations, exhibit loans, and much more.

The run time for each course video module is 8 minutes or less making them easy to complete.  All video modules can be located on the OMA YouTube channel.  All modules are closed captioned. It is recommended that you complete the course modules in order as each module builds on the information presented in previous modules.

A list of course modules and accompanying handout materials appears below.  If you would prefer to download ALL the handout materials at one time, you may do so here

A link to evaluate each course module is provided in the handout materials or may be accessed here. Please provide an evaluation as it will help us better understand usage of this course and if the course is having intended outcomes.

Additional information on Marking and Labeling Collections is available from the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation’s website on Connecting to Collections Care here.
