OMA board members and staff carried the voice of Oklahoma museums to our nation’s capital as part of Museums Advocacy Day 2015. We met with our Oklahoma congressional delegation (7 in total) and asked them for consideration of robust funding for IMLS, Office of Museum Services; protection of charitable giving contribution deductions; and to remember museums are important educational partners as it relates to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. We were happy to talk about Oklahoma museums and conclude the event presenting Congressman Tom Cole, thru his staff member Stratton Edwards, a congressional honor from the American Alliance of Museums.
