The nonprofit sector—including many Oklahoma museums and almost ALL their employees —will be affected by the Fair Labor Standards Act and its new overtime rules. Under the new rules—which will go into effect on December 1, 2016—a full-time, salaried employee earning less than $47,476 per year could now be eligible to receive overtime pay. The Department of Labor estimates that 4.2 million workers will be affected by this change. Oklahoma museums should plan now on how to be in compliance with the new overtime rules.
