The Oklahoma Museums Association is happy to announce Governor Mary Fallin has issued an Executive Proclamation declaring the week of March 25, 2018 as Museums Week!  The proclamation can be viewed here.

Oklahoma is home to 531+ museums!  Museums are powerful econmic engines and play an essential role in the state's educational infrastructure. Museums are also at the fabric of our communities, addressing challenges in such fields as healthcare, energy, poverty and more as well as working with the military and military families.

During Oklahoma Museums Week, OMA will be sending all Oklahoma legislators a list of museums in their district as well as the infographic below. We will be emailing legislative contact information the week before asking museums to contact their elected officials during Oklahoma Museums Week and invite them on a personal tour, convey how your museum serves and is vital to the community in areas of the economy, education, overall quality of life and so much more. We also encourage you to let the elected officials know how grateful you are for their public support of the Oklahoma Arts Council, Oklahoma Historical Society and Oklahoma Department of Libraries as these agencies, along with others, are such good partners with Oklahoma museums in service to the citizens of Oklahoma.
