Oklahoma Museums Association Announces 2021 Award Winners
Awards to be Presented During Annual Conference
The Oklahoma Museums Association (OMA) has selected award recipients to be honoring during its annual conference Sept. 15-17 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The awards program honors the excellence and quality of projects accomplished by OMA members throughout the state as well as dedicated individuals whose contributions positively impact Oklahoma museums and the museum profession.
OMA awards are offered in several categories including exhibits, outreach or education programming, promotions, publications and special projects and further divided into project budget groupings. Awards for contributions of individuals, groups and businesses to Oklahoma museums or a specific museum in the community will also be presented.
The awards celebration and dinner will be held on Thursday, Sept. 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Grand Casino Hotel & Resort in Shawnee. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased online at OKMuseums.org/Conference.
The OMA annual conference is open to all board members, volunteers, students and staff of museums, historical societies, historic sites, zoos and botanical gardens, historic houses, living history museums, tribal cultural centers and other museum-related institutions. The annual conference and awards is one of the many programs and services offered by the OMA to further its mission to assist Oklahoma museums in their efforts to educate, inform and entertain. The Oklahoma Museums Association is a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization founded in 1972. Programming offered by the Oklahoma Museums Association is important as the primary source of information and professional development for Oklahoma’s 500 museums, historical societies, historic sites, zoos and botanical gardens, historic houses, living history museums, tribal cultural centers and other museum-related institutions.
