Fundraising

The Oklahoma Museums Association does not offer a grant funding program.

Contributions by source of all US fundraising dollars: 67.4% Individuals; 18.7% Foundations; 9.5% Bequests; 4.3% Corporations as reported by Giving USA.  There are several organizations and  foundations in Oklahoma that offer grants to charitable organizations, including museums. OMA recommends researching a foundation’s purpose, restrictions, geographic focus, deadline and application process before applying for a grant.

OMA Museum members at the Pinnacle package level receive informal grant proposal reviews and a weekly subscription to GrantStation Insider, an online fundraising newsletter.  Membership Information

OMA has an established relationship with Chad Barger, CFRE, CNP,  of Productive Fundraising.  A special initiative will be announced in spring 2023. There are abundant free fundraising resources available on the Productive Fundraising website

Be advised it is not appropriate for a nonprofit to compensate a fundraising professional based on a percentage of the money raised.  See Standard #21 of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethical Principles and Standards for professional fundraiser
