COVID-19 Resources

These resources were developed during the height of the pandemic and remain relevant. OMA acknowledges much has changed since 2020 and some of the information is no longer needed, but we want to still make it available. Should new pandemic resources be needed, OMA will update this webpage.

Communities for Immunity is an initiative supporting the work of museums and libraries in engaging their communities in COVID-19 vaccine confidence.

The information developed by the Oklahoma Museums Association and presented in the Museum Open to the Public Guideline Considerations document includes ideas to demonstrate a museum’s commitment to providing a comfortable, safe, and healthy space for visitors and staff. OMA hopes that museums will consider following these guidelines to keep the staff, visitors, and collections safe, but ultimately it is up to each museum and its board of directors to adopt their own policies and procedures. OMA received a merit award at the Oklahoma Conference on Tourism for this document.

Museums should be advised that some or all of the information in the Museum Open to the Public Guideline Considerations document may not be applicable to every institution. It is strongly recommended that before implementing any of the ideas the institution carefully evaluates, and consults with outside legal counsel as appropriate, on the legality, applicability, and potential efficacy of this information for the institution.

A huge thanks to The Guild for developing a High-Touch, Deep Clean Areas Identified For Museums Infographic your museum can post to let the public know you are keeping a sanitary environment as well as a Museum Entrance Sign.  Download both signs here.

OMA compiled information based on enhanced best practices to offer Oklahoma museums guideline considerations to reopen their institutions. The Museum Open to the Public Guideline Considerations document is a portion of a larger publication developed by the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits to assist nonprofits throughout the state with their reopening plans and considerations.
