FEMA Assistance for Oklahoma Severe Winter Storms (DR-4587-OK) Incident Period: February 8, 2021 – February 20, 2021

Every county in Oklahoma is eligible for Category B, Emergency Protective Measures. No county, as of 3/17/21, is eligible for any other category known as permanent work. Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management is collecting information through their Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) process to try and get other categories included in this disaster. The hard deadline to submit the Request for Public Assistance is April 25, 2021.

If a museum knows they have uninsured damage in excess of $3,320 dollars they may be eligible for FEMA assistance. This includes deductibles. They will want to submit an access request to our grants management system, OK.EMGrants.com and not to FEMA, as it goes through the Oklahoma system to FEMA. Please fill out the online registration and the access request which will need to be signed and returned to the email address in the top paragraph of the access request.

Once access is granted, they will complete the Request for Public Assistance (RPA) and attach three things; 1) IRS 501 (C) 3 letter 2) charter or by-laws 3) proof of ownership of the damaged property.

They will also be asked for a full electronic copy of their insurance policy later in the process. Once the State reviews and FEMA approves the RPA the applicant will receive an email with details on how to continue the process in FEMA’s Grants Portal.
